Dr. Kamya Kameshwar MBChB FRACP Nephrologist & General Physician | Lecturer in Medical Education,
Dr. Kameshwar is a knowledgeable, approachable, enthusiastic dual trained Nephrologist and General Physician. She completed her MBChB degree with Distinction at the University of Auckland, New Zealand, Basic Physician Training at Western Health and Advanced Physician Training in both Nephrology and General Medicine through Western Health, Monash Health and Cabrini Health (Victoria, Australia), prior to attaining Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP). This has enabled her to gain experience in both the public and private healthcare sectors from early in her career. It has also led to acquiring a broad skill set and strong knowledge base, allowing her to adeptly care for patients with multiple and complex medical issues.
In addition to possessing experience in general nephrology and renal replacement therapies (dialysis and transplant medicine), her particular interests include chronic kidney disease and supportive care. She has also undertaken research throughout specialty training and has multiple publications in scientific journals, which have been presented at a number of national and international scientific meetings. She continues to attend scientific meetings and medical conferences on a regular basis to provide care in keeping with the latest evidence base in her fields of practice. Additionally, Dr. Kameshwar has a keen passion for medical education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, evidenced by a formal appointment as Lecturer in Medical Education at the Western Clinical School, University of Melbourne and involvement in training supervision and mentoring of physician trainees, through the RACP. She also contributes as an examiner for the RACP’s annual examinations.
She consults at Queens Park Specialists and offers inpatient Nephrology, General Medicine and Peri-operative care at Cabrini Malvern, Epworth Richmond and Epworth Freemasons. She also has appointments at public health services, including Western Health and Eastern Health.
Dr. Kameshwar prides herself on being able to offer holistic, patient-centred care by upholding exemplary standards of professionalism and possessing a clear, open and empathetic style when communicating with patients and their loved ones. She welcomes the privilege of providing care to any patients requiring a specialist in Nephrology or General Medicine and has capacity to accommodate new patients, as well as urgent referrals.
